Government legislation (Euro 6) has been introduced to encourage reduced exhaust emissions 
on all new build heavy vehicles.

This means that all new trucks and buses must be designed to have more efficient exhaust systems in order to reduce the release of dangerous particulate matter (PM) into the atmosphere.

It is for this reason that Bus and Truck manufacturers are working on a new generation of vehicles specifically designed to combat vehicle emissions by reducing particulate matter. These clean exhaust systems will transform cities worldwide.

Exhaust Pipe Insulation


Pyroglass Limited offer a unique thick wall Basalt sleeve which has been specially developed to help insulate sections of truck and bus exhausts especially where there is a long run of exhaust pipe from the engine to the catalytic converter. 

The Basalt sleeve can operate at 750ºC and is designed not only to keep the exhaust gases hotter as they enter the catalytic converter, but also to protect sensitive electronic equipment which can sometimes be routed close to the exhaust due to lack of space under the chassis and protect operators from the hot exhaust pipes.
In addition to truck and bus exhausts there is often a need to cover exhausts on generators to provide additional silencing or protection for personnel against possible contact with the hot exhaust. Sleeves or wraps are also popular on performance motor engines including motor sport where the principle of keeping the exhaust gases hot helps boost engine performance. For these applications Pyroglass Limited offer a range of glass fibre based sleeves and tapes which can operate continuously at 600°C

Euro 6 (2015) is the sixth incarnation of the European Union directive to reduce harmful pollutants from vehicle exhausts.

The aim of Euro 6 is to reduce levels of harmful exhaust emissions - this includes nitrogen oxide (NOx), carbon monoxide (CO), hydrocarbons (THC and NMHC) and Particulate Matter.

Our Thick Walled Basalt Sleeves are designed to keep the exhaust gases hotter so the performance of the catalytic converter is enhanced, reducing the levels of harmful exhaust emissions.

A knock-on effect of reducing pollutants can also mean improved fuel economy and lower CO2 emissions.
